Current Lessons Policies Updated April 2023
Tuition Payment
Private lessons enroll on a semester-long basis. Tuition may be paid for the whole semester at once or monthly (divided into equal amounts for the months in the semester) during the fall and winter semesters. A student is not considered enrolled for the semester before the first tuition bill is received. Monthly payments are due at the first of every month. If enrolling mid-semester, the fee for lessons that semester will be pro-rated to reflect the amount of lessons that are left in the semester. Tuition for any lessons scheduled during the first partial month of the semester are due upon enrollment. Summer tuition is due as a single payment.
When you pay your tuition, you will be assigned a specific lesson time for each week. This time is exclusively reserved for you; therefore, there are no refunds or credits for lessons missed due to student absence. When enrolling for a semester, you are agreeing to pay for tuition for the entire semester.
Should you decide to discontinue your private lessons, you must notify the studio as soon as possible, at least two weeks before your final lesson. Upon cancellation, there is no tuition refund for the lessons remaining in the semester.
Payment Options: You may pay via the email invoice I send (via credit card or ACH), or you may pay by cash or check. For those paying tuition each month, automatic bill pay can be set up through the invoice system.
Late payments: If tuition for the current month is not received by the 10th of the month, a $25 late fee will be added to the tuition cost. Since I have to pay late fees when my payments for bills are late, I need more money to pay them when your payments are late. Consider setting up automatic bill pay so that you don’t forget and end up paying late fees; this can save you money! When an account becomes more than 30 days past due, it will be considered in default and lessons will have to discontinue. Scheduled online bill payments through your bank are therefore the most reliable way to ensure that lessons are never discontinued for your child.
Student Absences
Regular attendance and consistent practice are essential for musical progress. Your scheduled lesson time is reserved exclusively for you, and it is important to make every effort to attend each lesson on a regular basis.
At the beginning of each school year or semester, students will be assigned a time slot for their lesson. I will do my best to accommodate each family’s scheduling preferences at that time. Students may cancel lessons as needed, with the understanding that missed lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded. Your teacher may offer make up lessons at her discretion, but is not obligated to do so.
Make-up lessons are not scheduled for lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson, excepting illness or emergencies. Make-up lessons offered by the teacher will not exceed 2 per student per semester.
Teacher Absences
Occasionally an instructor may be prevented from working due to illness, inclement weather, or other emergencies. In these circumstances Gramlich Music, LLC reserves the right to cancel one lesson per student per school year without a refund or make up lesson. Should an instructor need to cancel more than one lesson in a school year, a lesson will be scheduled at the soonest opportunity to make up for the missed lesson. In the rare circumstance that the teacher must miss multiple lessons and will not be able to make them up, the teacher and the student will agree on a resolution at that time.
Continuity
If you choose to discontinue lessons, Gramlich Music, LLC asks that you complete the semester of which you were enrolled (Fall: Sept - Dec; Winter: Jan - May; Summer: Jun - Aug).
In order to retain skills developed during the school year, students are encouraged to continue lessons over the summer. Flexible scheduling options will be available.
Students who do not register for a minimum of 4 lessons during the summer session forfeit their right to early registration for the following school year, and may be waitlisted if the schedule is full.
Students currently enrolled in a semester always have the option to enroll early for the next semester before new students are admitted.
Parent Involvement
Taking an active role in your child’s music education has a direct impact on their progress. Parents are always welcome to attend/observe lessons! Please plan to do some coaching between lessons until your child is capable of practicing effectively on their own.
